The Rhino Momma Project Honors Founder, Jaco Muller, and Commits to Carrying His Mission Forward

OUTJO, Namibia, Oct. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The Rhino Momma Project is mourning the loss of its founder, Jaco Muller, who passed away following an accident helping a fellow neighbor. Jaco dedicated his life to protecting rhinos, and the organization he built stands today as a testament to his courage, his conviction, and his love for the land and the animals he fought to save.

Jaco Muller built the Rhino Momma Project on a simple but urgent belief: that every rhino saved is a future secured.

Jaco built the Rhino Momma Project on a simple but urgent belief: that every rhino saved is a future secured. Under his leadership, the program has been responsible for nearly 200 white rhino calves, contributing to the stabilization and conservation of this endangered species. Those who worked alongside him remember a man who showed up every day, in every condition, always put others before himself.

“Jaco never knew how to stand still while someone else needed help. In 2010, he bought a single rhino because his son, Tristan, asked for one for a school project and a dream. One calf became a program, and the program became the Rhino Momma Project. What he built still stands, and every calf born on that ground will carry his name forward,” said James-Scott Wong, Board Member, Rhino Momma Project.

Jaco built the Rhino Momma Project to outlast any one person, and the team he assembled is committed to honoring that vision. The organization will continue its daily operations.

“Wildlife Vets Namibia has worked alongside Jaco and Rhino Momma Project since the very beginning. This is a project that puts its money where its heart is, and every cent goes back into rhino conservation. We will remain proud supporters and stand ready to help in any way we can,” said Dr. Ulf Tubbesing, Wildlife Vets Namibia.

“Jaco poured everything he had into the Rhino Momma Project and never quit on these animals. Our family is committed to carrying on what he built to the best of our ability,” said the Muller family.

To ensure his work continues, the Rhino Momma Project has established the Jaco Muller Legacy Fund. Supporters around the world can give at https://rhinomomma.org. Every gift, no matter the size, helps keep Jaco’s promise to the rhinos he loved. The family and the Rhino Momma Project team are grateful for the outpouring of support and ask for privacy as they grieve.
